Mahindra has teased its upcoming XEV 9S electric SUV, a model set to sit above the currently available XEV 9e in the company's lineup. The XEV 9S marks the next step in Mahindra's electric vehicle expansion, offering consumers a longer wheelbase variant with a seven-seater configuration. The company released a promotional video showcasing the new model to consumers ahead of formal announcements.
The XEV 9S will be constructed on Mahindra's INGLO platform, the same foundational architecture that underpins the XEV 9e. This modular and scalable platform has been specifically designed for electric vehicles, enabling flexibility in vehicle length and seating arrangements. The INGLO platform allows Mahindra to extend the wheelbase of the XEV 9e without requiring substantial redesign of core components.

The seven-seater layout is likely to represent a departure from the five-seater configuration of the standard XEV 9e. By utilising the platform's scalability, Mahindra has incorporated an additional row of seating while maintaining the vehicle's overall design philosophy. The extended length of the XEV 9S compared to the XEV 9e provides necessary interior space for the third row of passengers.
The XEV 9e, which launched in November 2024, comes with a 79 kWh battery offering 656 km of range and a 59 kWh battery option providing 542 km of range. The XEV 9S is expected to offer comparable powertrain options, though specific battery and motor details for the extended model have yet to be formally confirmed by Mahindra.
