Mahindra has made some serious changes both inside and outside the cabin of the XUV 7XO, even though underneath it remains the same vehicle as the XUV700.

Mahindra has officially launched the XUV 7XO, a successor to the outgoing XUV700. With prices starting at ₹13.66 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Mahindra XUV 7XO gets significant changes over its predecessor. Here’s a look at all that has changed from the XUV700 into the XUV 7XO.

Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700: Exterior

While the overall top hat and silhouette of the XUV 7XO has been carried over from the XUV700, there are plenty of changes made on the exterior to give the former a new identity. For instance, the full-width grille comes with jewel-like talon accents to give the SUV an aggressive face. The revised grille is flanked by bi-LED projector headlamps similar to the ones seen in the Scorpio N.

The lower section of the front fascia incorporates a new sculpted bumper and a reprofiled air dam along with repositioned LED fog lamps. Similarly at the rear, the tailgate houses reworked LED taillamps that receive fin-like design elements along with a piano black finished panel between the two assemblies. The alloy wheels get a new design and a larger size (19-inch) in higher-spec trims. 

Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700: Interiors

The biggest visible change inside the cabin of the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the triple-screen layout borrowed from the XEV 9E and XEV 9S, comprising three 12.3-inch displays or the touchscreen infotainment, digital instrument cluster, and front passenger entertainment. Further, the XUV 7XO comes equipped with the brand’s new two-spoke steering wheel featuring the ‘Twin Peaks’ logo and a piano-black finish. Combined with a tan-and-black interior scheme and a minimalist dashboard layout, these updates are expected to enhance the cabin’s overall premium feel.

Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700: Features

Mahindra has added plenty of new features in the XUV 7XO over the outgoing XUV700. For starters, the infotainment system and instrument cluster, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P, integrates Alexa Voice Assist with Chat GPT. The front passenger seat gets a 4-way electronically operated ‘boss’ mode to liberate more rear legroom for the second-row passenger. 

Other notable feature additions include massaging front seats, rear ventilated seats for the 6-seater variants, a 540-degree camera with digital video recording, an upgraded 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, and a wireless charger for second-row seats. Mahindra has also introduced a segment-first Advanced Hydraulic Rebound Stopper which Mahindra calls the DAVINCI damping technology, adding to the comfort and stability of the vehicle.

Further, features like Level 2 ADAS and multi-colour ambient lighting have been upgraded for better usability and convenience. Safety features on board XUV 7XO include o seven airbags (six as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), automatic headlamps,, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child-seat mounts, an electronic parking brake, etc.

Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700: Powertrain

The powertrain department remains unchanged. The XUV 7XO gets the same two engine options, producing the same outputs. These include a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, both of them can be paired with either a a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The diesel unit also gets the option of an all-wheel drive system with the automatic gearbox.
