While the changes are largely internal, they reflect a broader effort to realign leadership across key operational areas.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced a series of changes in its senior management personnel, effective 1 April 2026. The development was disclosed through a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges following a board meeting held earlier in the day. The reshuffle includes role transitions, a retirement, and an expanded leadership responsibility within the company’s technology function.
Dr. Tapan Sahoo, who currently heads Digital Enterprise and Information & Cyber Security at MSIL, will take on additional responsibility for the Information Technology function after Gautam’s retirement. This consolidation suggests a more integrated approach to digital and IT operations, which are becoming increasingly critical as automakers invest in connected technologies and data-driven systems.
Among other notable changes, Ram Suresh Akella will move from his current role as Head of Service to take charge of Parts and Accessories. In parallel, B S Suresh Babu has been appointed as the new Head of Service. Both appointments will be under existing full-time employment terms.

Akella brings over three decades of experience within the company, having worked across sales, network operations, and regional commercial business. Suresh Babu, with more than 26 years at the automaker, has built extensive experience in field service operations across India.
The company also confirmed that S D Chhabra will transition from his current role as Head of Parts and Accessories to a position in production. Following this move, he will no longer be classified under senior management personnel. Meanwhile, Manoj Gautam, who served as Head of Information Technology, will step down due to superannuation. His retirement marks the end of a long tenure overseeing the company’s IT operations.
