Passenger car sales, including mini, compact and mid-size categories, surged 42.3 per cent to 97,830 units.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Monday posted its best-ever monthly domestic sales figures, selling 1,93,535 vehicles in May 2026 which is a jump of 39.5 per cent against 1,38,690 units sold in the same month in 2025. India's largest carmaker also achieved its highest-ever total monthly sales volume, with overall dispatches climbing 34.8 per cent year-on-year to 2,42,688 units, including exports and sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), up from 1,80,077 units in May last year.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 1,90,337 units during the month, compared with 1,35,962 units a year earlier, while light commercial vehicle sales edged up to 3,198 units from 2,728 units.
The utility vehicle segment remained the primary growth engine, with models including the Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, XL6 and Invicto collectively recording a 44.4 per cent rise to 79,267 units, against 54,899 units in May 2025.
Passenger car sales, including mini, compact and mid-size categories, surged 42.3 per cent to 97,830 units. Within that segment, compact and mid-size models such as the Baleno, Swift, WagonR, Dzire and Celerio accounted for 81,555 units, up from 61,960 units a year earlier.
On the international front, exports grew 34.3 per cent to 41,914 units from 31,219 units a year ago, with sales to other OEMs standing at 7,239 units.
Van sales, led by the Eeco, saw modest growth, rising to 13,240 units from 12,327 units in May 2025.
Cumulatively, for the first two months of FY27, Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales including light commercial vehicles rose 37 per cent to 3,84,657 units, with total sales crossing 4.82 lakh units against 3.60 lakh units recorded in the corresponding period of FY26.
