Maruti Suzuki eVX, which was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and then at the Japan Mobility Show this year, has now been spotted testing on Indian roads. Expected to go on sale in 2025, the eVX will be the brand’s first EV in the country.
First and foremost, the spy shots give us an estimate of the size of the Maruti Suzuki eVX. With its dimensions of 4,300 mm length, 1,800 mm width and 1,600 mm length, it looks much bigger sitting next to a Tata Altroz and Maruti Suzuki Celerio in traffic. While the EV SUV was under heavy camouflage, its basic shape and some key details can be seen.
Up front, the eVX can be seen with different headlights compared to the concept shown earlier this year. The test mule has a single-piece headlight design inside a glass housing whereas the concept could be seen with an exposed, layered headlight design. The front end also looks different compared to the two iterations of the concepts shown earlier. However, that could also be attributed to the camouflage used on the SUV.
In profile, the eVX test mule shows two very interesting features. First is the addition of cameras on the ORVMs that indicate the existence of a 360-degree camera. Secondly, the rear door handles of the eVX will be mounted on the C-pillar and it will get traditional pull-type handles rather than the flush-fitting ones seen on the concepts.
At the back, Maruti Suzuki has camouflaged eVX heavily and even removed the taillight elements to remove the design. However, it can be seen that the prototype has a similar taillight housing as the concept, i.e. running across the width of the SUV. It also gets chunky rear bumpers with two reflectors.
The interior of the eVX was not visible in the spy shots as it was camouflaged. However, it was shown at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 last month. It was shown with a very minimalistic dashboard with a huge, free-standing touchscreen and a square, two-spoke steering wheel.
Suzuki also hasn’t released any specifications of the eVX apart from its dimensions and the fact that it will have a range of around 500 km on a single charge. Suzuki says the eVX will also get electronically-controlled 4x4 tech. It is expected to get a 60 kWh battery pack coupled with dual-electric motors.
