Maruti Suzuki Fronx is expected to receive subtle exterior updates along with new features and some powertrain updates.
Maruti Suzuki is working on a number of updated models including the Baleno and the Brezza, whose test mules have been spotted on multiple occasions in recent weeks. Besides these two models, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is also working on the Fronx facelift that has been spotted testing on the roads.
Maruti launched the Fronx for the first time in March 2023 and has sold over 1.72 lakh units till now. Given its strong demand, the Fronx was the second best-selling Nexa model in FY2026 after Baleno, on which the Fronx is based.
The spy images show a fully camouflaged test unit of the Fronx that receives subtle updates on its exterior. Despite the heavy foliage, the Fronx facelift is expected to receive updates to its front fascia. Both the front and rear bumpers could also be revised, while the LED taillamps are likely to feature subtle design changes. The profile of the car remains unchanged, as expected, but the facelifted Fronx will receive new black alloy wheels.
Interiors of the upcoming iteration of the Fronx facelift is still a mystery with no clear visuals available in the latest spy shots. However, we expect a few major updates to the equipment in the new Fronx. For instance, features like ventilated seats, digital driver's display and a sunroof are likely to be added to the updated Fronx’s equipment. Further, the UI for the touchscreen infotainment and digital instrument cluster is expected to receive an update. There are also rumours of Maruti adding Level 2 ADAS to the package as well.
The upcoming Maruti Fronx facelift is expected to introduce the brand’s in-house developed series hybrid technology. This system will combine a petrol engine with electric motors that directly drive the wheels, while the petrol engine primarily acts as a generator to recharge the battery pack.
Compared to conventional strong hybrid setups, Maruti Suzuki’s new hybrid technology is likely to be more efficient and cost-effective. The carmaker is expected to pair this system with its 1.2-litre Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine, which could eventually be used in other mass-market models as well. The Fronx will continue with the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine in the higher variants. This unit is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
