Maruti Suzuki has unveiled a special edition of the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Maruti Suzuki’s premium range of dealerships – Nexa. Prices for the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq are expected to be announced in the coming days, and since it is based on the top-spec Alpha+ strong hybrid variant, expect it to cost more than ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

With the Phantom Blaq Edition, the Grand Vitara gets a Matte Black paint scheme with completely blacked-out accents all around. The only shiny bits left on the Grand Vitara are the Maruti Suzuki logos on the front and rear. The grille, alloy wheels, roof rails, tailgate garnishes, door handles, and the D-pillar accents now have a blacked-out finish.

Inside, too, Maruti Suzuki has given the Grand Vitara a full blacked-out treatment. It gets a completely blacked-out cabin with all the accents getting a ‘Champagne Gold’ treatment, which isn’t new since the strong hybrid variants already get it. Features on the Phantom Blaq include a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch virtual cluster, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, and more.

Powering the Phantom Blaq is the same 1.5-litre petrol engine with strong hybrid assist, with a combined power output of 114 bhp. Power is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT transmission.

In 2015, Maruti Suzuki took a bold step of separating its dealerships into two factions – Arena and Nexa. Arena was meant for mass-market models, while Nexa became the premium chain of Maruti Suzuki dealerships. Nexa became quite popular and has helped the brand really grow.

While it began its journey with the Baleno and S Cross, Nexa currently retails the Baleno, Fronx, Ignis, Ciaz, XL6, Grand Vitara, Jimny and Invicto. Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming EV, the e-Vitara, will also be sold through this premium range of dealerships.
