The JIM in Sonipat will accept over 100 students across four trades – Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Machinist, Welder and Fitter.
Maruti Suzuki has four Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) across India, and the latest one is the JIM in Sonipat, Haryana. This one is part of the Master Atul Government ITI in Sonipat, and Maruti Suzuki has opened admissions for the first batch at this institute.
The JIM Sonipat will accept over 100 students and teach them four trades – Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Machinist, Welder and Fitter. The course will begin in September 2025. To take admission, a candidate will need to be between 18 and 21 years of age, have passed at least 10th standard, and have the prerequisite scores in the exams.
Maruti Suzuki has allocated ₹10 crore for the development of the JIM in Sonipat. The course will follow the curriculum outlined by National Council for Vocational Training, accredited by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki, said, After setting up our first JIM in Haryana at Uncha Majra, we are thankful to the Government of Haryana for providing us the opportunity to set up the second JIM in the state.”
Maruti Suzuki has JIMs in two states – Haryana and Gujarat. In the former, it has JIMs in Uncha Majra and Sonipat, while in the latter it is set up in Mehsana and Gandhinagar. JIMs were set up as a collaboration between the Governments of India and Japan.
