Maruti Suzuki India’s production volumes showed a mixed trajectory through the summer of 2025, before September sales rebounded on robust exports and festive demand.
In June 2025, India’s production at Maruti Suzuki’s domestic plants reached 127,504 units, marking the first year-on-year decline in nine months and reflecting softer demand in entry-level and compact segments. Production surged sharply in July to 187,073 units, driven by strong output of passenger cars across the mini-compact sub-segment, which alone accounted for 99,434 units, and a steady run of utility vehicles like Brezza and Ertiga at 70,241 units. August production eased to 158,202 units amid seasonal adjustments, with passenger vehicles at 155,238 units and light commercial vehicles contributing 2,964 units.
September saw a strategic shift, as production volumes totalled 201,915 units—up 26.5% year-on-year—powered by relaxed GST rates and growing festive bookings across models ranging from Alto and S-Presso (12,318 units) to utility vehicles (79,496 units). This uptick in manufacturing helped support wholesale dispatches during Navratri and Ganesh Chaturthi.
Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 189,665 units in September 2025, a 2.7% increase over the prior year, led by a record 42,204 exports, which jumped 52% on global demand. Domestic sales softened 8.3% to 135,711 units as logistical constraints delayed dealer dispatches late in the month. Sales to OEM partners rose to 11,750 units from 8,938 units a year ago, underscoring diversified off-take channels.
Despite challenges in mini car and utility segments, the compact segment remained the volume engine, with 66,882 units sold—a 10.6% year-on-year gain. As Maruti Suzuki navigates the new GST regime and festive tailwinds, production ramp-ups and export momentum are likely to underpin near-term performance.
