Takeuchi will continue his positions at Maruti Suzuki till the end of March 31, 2028.
Maruti Suzuki India has reappointed Hisashi Takeuchi as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for his second tenure. Takeuchi was first appointed as the MD and CEO of the Indian auto giant in April 2022. Takeuchi succeeded Kenichi Ayukawa, whose term ended March 31, 2022.
Like his previous tenure, Takeuchi will again hold these positions for a tenure of three years, till March 31, 2028. Takeuchi became Joint Managing Director (Commercial) in April 2021. He’s been a part of Suzuki Motor Corporation since 1986.
Since his appointment as MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, he has overseen the launch of many cars like the new Baleno, Swift, Dzire, Jimny, Fronx, Grand Vitara and Invicto to name a few.
In an official statement, Maruti Suzuki said, “We hereby inform that the Board, in its meeting held today [29th January, 2025], approved the reappointment of Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a further period of three years with effect from 1st April, 2025 till 31st March, 2028.”
In addition to Takeuchi, Maruti Suzuki also reappointed Maheshwar Sahu as an independent director for a period of five years, from May 14, 2025 to May 13, 2030.
