Bookings for Maruti Suzuki's first fully electric model in India have now opened at ₹21,000.
Maruti Suzuki has announced the introductory price for its first electric SUV, the eVitara, under a battery-as-a-service model. The company has set the starting price at ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the vehicle, while the battery will be offered on a separate per kilometre EMI of ₹3.99. The introductory price applies to the base configuration, and full variant-wise prices are yet to be revealed. The bookings for the car have now opened at ₹21,000.
The company is positioning the eVitara with multiple variants, but has only disclosed the entry price for now. Customers will pay for the vehicle shell upfront and subscribe to the battery separately, which lowers the initial acquisition cost. Detailed ex-showroom prices for higher variants, including models with larger battery packs and additional features, will be announced later. This means buyers currently know only the starting point of the eVitara range, while complete pricing will follow once sales open.
The eVitara uses lithium iron phosphate battery packs that Maruti Suzuki will import into India from BYD. Two packs are planned for the India-spec model, with capacities of around 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller pack is paired with a single electric motor that generates about 142 bhp of power and around 189–193 Nm of torque. The larger 61 kWh pack in the front wheel drive version produces up to about 171–172 bhp, with torque again in the region of 189–193 Nm, while a dual motor version in some markets can go up to around 181 bhp and roughly 300 Nm.
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the eVitara is built on the Heartect e electric platform and is aimed at buyers looking for an electric SUV. The company has also highlighted an assured buyback programme, complimentary home charger installation and free charging for a limited period for early customers, as part of the introductory package. More details on final variant prices, full specifications and delivery timelines are expected soon.
