The fourth-generation Swift can be booked for a token amount of ₹11,000.
The new, fourth-generation Swift’s launch in India is imminent as Maruti Suzuki has opened bookings for the hatchback for a token amount of ₹11,000. Expect the new Swift to be launched in the coming weeks.
The first-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift was launched in India in 2005 and ever since, the brand has sold more than 29 lakh units across three generations.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “The Swift has been an iconic brand for Maruti Suzuki, one that has evolved with changing times to redefine customer expectations. The Epic New Swift stays true to its much-loved sporty DNA, while balancing new-age expectations of environment friendliness with low emissions. As always, the next-generation Swift is all set to create new benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment and further the concept of the ‘Joy of Mobility’ in its own right.”
The fourth-generation Swift was unveiled last year at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 and has already been spotted testing in India. While Maruti Suzuki hasn’t revealed the specifications of the new Swift, sources tell us that it will get the hybrid powertrain that does duty in the international-spec model.
Under the hood, expect the new Swift to come with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine producing 80 bhp and 108 Nm. It will get a mild-hybrid assist that will provide a boost of up to 3 bhp and 60 Nm. While the international-spec Swift gets the choice of a 5-speed manual or a CVT, the Indian-spec model is expected to get the manual gearbox but there is no confirmation on which automatic gearbox will be fitted.
Maruti Suzuki has also shared a couple of teasers of the new Swift. The teaser image shows the Swift will have minimal design changes to the front and a teaser video confirms the India-spec model will get the same alloy wheel design as the international-spec model.
