Maserati has announced the India launch of the GranTurismo on August 30, 2024. This comes just a day after the confirmation of the Maserati Grecale SUV's arrival, to be available in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants. While there is no official word yet, the electric version of the GranTurismo, the GranTurismo Folgore, is anticipated to follow suit later this year.
The second-generation GranTurismo maintains its signature low-slung, long-bonnet design. The front end features a prominent Maserati Trident logo within an oval grille, complemented by air intakes and sleek vertical headlights. The rear of the vehicle boasts slim taillights and quad exhausts integrated into the bumper. The GranTurismo Folgore, while sharing the overall design, includes unique bumpers and Folgore-specific badging.
Inside the GranTurismo, Maserati has embraced a more revolutionary approach. Traditional physical controls have largely been replaced by modern touchscreens. The dashboard now features a 12.3-inch infotainment display and an 8.8-inch screen dedicated to HVAC controls. The multifunction steering wheel retains some physical buttons, and behind it lies a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Notably, the iconic analogue clock on the dashboard has been updated to a configurable digital display.
The ICE versions of the GranTurismo are powered by the same 3.0-litre Nettuno V6 engine found in the MC20 supercar. Two variants are available: Modena and Trofeo. The Modena version delivers 483 bhp and 600 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 kmph acceleration in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 302 kmph. The Trofeo variant, with a higher output of 542 bhp and 650 Nm, boasts a 0-100 kmph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 320 kmph. Both variants come with all-wheel drive.
The GranTurismo Folgore, Maserati's electric offering, is equipped with a 92.5 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of up to 450 km on a single charge. The Folgore features a triple-motor setup, generating 751 bhp and 1350 Nm of torque. Maserati claims it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 325 kmph.
Pricing for the GranTurismo range is expected to start above ₹2.5 crore (ex-showroom, India). The ICE GranTurismo will compete with luxury sports cars such as the Aston Martin Vantage, Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari Roma, and Porsche 911. Meanwhile, the GranTurismo Folgore, with its lack of direct competitors, may still face some rivalry from high-performance EVs like the Porsche Taycan, Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, and Audi RS e-tron GT.
