Mediatek Dimensity 9300 set to launch on November 7.
MediaTek is set to release a new processor, believed to be the Dimensity 9300, that has already been spotted on the Antutu benchmarking website, where it is reported to have achieved record-breaking results. The scores, shared on Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo, show a score of over 2 million, setting a new record for an Android phone. However, it has been reported that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which will be unveiled at Qualcomm's yearly summit in Hawaii later this week, has also surpassed the 2 million mark on Antutu, making it one of the most widely used benchmarking platforms for smartphone testers.
The Dimensity 9300 is reportedly an octa-core chipset, featuring four cortex X4 high-performance cores and four cortex A720 cores for efficiency. It will also be paired with the Immortalis G720 GPU by Mali, which supports ray tracing. The chipset supports up to 16GB DDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. Additionally, the chipset is compatible with displays that have a 120Hz refresh rate.
While there is limited information available about which phones will come equipped with the latest MediaTek flagship SoC, there are rumours suggesting that Vivo's flagship X100 series will feature the chip, similar to its predecessor, the X90 Pro, which had the Dimensity 9200. It is also expected that the Oppo Find X7 series will be launched with this chipset. The Vivo X100 series is anticipated to be launched towards the end of the year.
It is likely that the Pro+ variant of the Vivo X100 series will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Xiaomi has already announced that the Xiaomi 14 will be launched later this week, featuring its hyper OS, which is expected to be the first implementation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Vivo's new phones will probably use Sony's Lytia 800 series of cameras, similar to the recently launched OnePlus Open. The Pro model will also include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 64-megapixel periscope camera, much like the OnePlus. The phone is expected to have an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a massive 5,100mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
While the absolute flagship phones use Qualcomm's silicon, MediaTek has made gains and many Chinese vendors choose MediaTek's solutions to keep the price of the device lower as they don't have the brand equity to sell a high end phone at a price that is close to an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S device.
