Mercedes-Benz India today launched its most powerful car in the world in the country. The car is priced t Rs. 3.3 crore (ex-showroom India). The AMG GT SE is a plug-in hybrid and it's the first time that such a car comes to India. The company also announced that the one's who buy the car, will get the keys handed over to them, by none other than 7-time F1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE is the most powerful production car from the company to date. There's a total of 839 bhp on offer, out of which 639 bhp comes from the 4-litre twin-turbo V8, while the electric motor offers 204 bhp. There is 1470 Nm of torque on offer and the that's enough to spin the earth around its axis.
The car can do a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 2.9 seconds and that is a similar time to the AMG GT Black Series. The AMG GT 63 SE gets an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. On top of the electric motor sits the 6.1 kWh battery pack which can be charged via a socket provided at the rear. The battery provides 12 km of all-electric driving range and can achieve a top speed of 130 kmph.
Mercedes-Benz has taken its F1 technology and applied it to its production car and it's this that we will see trickle down to more cars in the near future. The high density lithium ion battery can charge and discharge quickly and there is also brake regeneration that adds to the battery charge.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE currently does not have any rivals in the country and though it weighs over 2400 kilos, it's quick on its feet thanks to smart technology. It's practical too because it can seat 4 people and also has plenty of boot space to offer.
Mercedes is also providing a range of personalisation options on the car, right from the seats to sunroof to even the colour of the seatbelts.
