The Concept GT XX travelled 40,075 km (the circumference of the Earth) in just 7 days and 13 hours.

It’s not even been two months since Mercedes-AMG unveiled the Concept GT XX, and it has already started shattering records. Mercedes-Benz’s performance arm set not one but 25 new records at the Nardo Ring in Italy.

All of these features were achieved by an electric vehicle, the Concept GT XX, which uses the brand’s AMG.EA high-performance architecture. Mercedes-AMG claims the Concept GT XX averaged around 5,300 km per day, at 300 kmph.

Even charging the car was done at record speeds, using an 850 kW DC charger, which allowed Mercedes-AMG to add a range of 400 km in just 5 minutes.

The record run was conducted at the Nardo Ring in Italy.

The Concept GT XX was driven by a team of 17 drivers, including George Russell, Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1’s lead driver. Russell said, “As an F1 driver, I'm used to pushing technology to its absolute limits – the CONCEPT AMG GT XX really impressed me. The axial flux motors respond as immediately and precisely as a Formula 1 drivetrain, but with an endurance that I have only ever experienced with combustion engines. This technology will revolutionise the driving experience – both on the racetrack and on the road.”

Speaking of which, the Concept GT XX comes with three axial flux motors, which help churn out a massive 1341 bhp and help the EV achieve a top speed of 360 kmph. There are two motors on the rear axle, and the one on the front acts as a booster, stepping in only when the Concept GT XX requires additional power or traction.
