Mercedes-Benz India launched the AMG GT 63 in India at a whopping ₹3 crore (ex-showroom, India). Deliveries for the brand’s sports car will begin later this year, with Mercedes-Benz aiming to begin deliveries in the final quarter of the year, i.e., between October and December 2025.
Speaking in an interaction with Acko Drive, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said that even though the GT 63 has been launched just now, “our customers knew about it, the close ones, already more than 10 customers have booked this car.”
Iyer also said that these customers have already configured their cars, and they will be among the first right-hand drive units of the AMG GT in the world. Iyer said these cars will be coming to India by the end of the year.
This is interesting to note because the AMG GT 63 is not cheap, but it has already garnered quite a bit of attention. Getting around or more than 10 bookings for a niche car even before the launch is a decent achievement for any luxury manufacturer.
The AMG GT 63 gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, similar to its predecessor, but it now makes 576 bhp and 800 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. 0-100 kmph is achieved in just 3.2 seconds, and it has a top speed of 315 kmph. Mercedes-Benz India also launched the more hardcore AMG GT 63 Pro at ₹3.65 crore (ex-showroom India), and you can read more about it here.
