The CLA with EQ Technology will serve as a gateway model into the German automaker’s EV lineup.
Mercedes-Benz has officially listed the CLA with EQ Technology, or the CLA Electric, on its Indian website. Though the company has not disclosed a specific launch date, we expect the all-electric entry-level sedan to arrive on Indian roads as soon as August 2025. The CLA with EQ Technology will serve as a gateway model into the German automaker’s EV lineup. It is based on the company’s new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, tailored specifically for compact electric vehicles. Globally, it is available in two variants- CLA 250+ with EQ Technology and CLA 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology.
The new-generation CLA Electric features a bold visual overhaul with a sportier and more aerodynamic profile. The sedan has grown in overall dimensions, enhancing cabin space and road presence. Prominent design cues include the signature star-pattern LED tail lamps, a reinterpreted grille embedded with multiple Mercedes Tri-Star elements, and aggressive body sculpting on the bonnet and bumpers. The 18-inch alloy wheels and coupe-inspired roofline further reinforce the car’s performance-oriented identity.
The cabin of the CLA Electric embraces Mercedes-Benz’s latest digital technology. Central to this is the MBUX Superscreen layout, which integrates three large displays: a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch central infotainment screen, and a 14-inch passenger-side entertainment screen. The system runs on the new MB.OS operating system and includes artificial intelligence functionalities, such as Chatgpt-based voice assistance.
Luxury appointments include sports seats, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting in multiple colour options, a panoramic glass roof, ventilated and powered front seats, and a wireless charging pad. The vehicle is also equipped with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced occupant safety.
The CLA Electric uses an 800-volt electrical architecture paired with an 85 kWh battery pack. The system is engineered for high efficiency and supports rapid charging capabilities of up to 320 kW. According to the company, the EV can deliver over 300 km of range with just 10 minutes of charging. Under the WLTP cycle, the sedan claims a maximum range of up to 771-792 km on a full charge. Both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive variants are expected to be available.

The CLA Electric is expected to be priced at approximately ₹65 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In the Indian market, it will compete with other premium EVs such as the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo C40 Recharge. It will also serve as an electric alternative to traditional ICE sedans like the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the Audi A4.
