Mercedes-Benz says the VLE can accommodate up to eight occupants.
The highly anticipated Mercedes-Benz VLE is set to make its global debut in its final production avatar tomorrow. Deemed as the all-electric equivalent to the V-Class, the VLE has been in development for a long time now. The German marque will unveil the battery-powered luxury MPV during a live event in Stuttgart.
From braving the strong winds of Stuttgart to high-speed dynamic handling at a test track in Nardò, Southern Italy, the VLE has been undergoing intensive testing for more than a year. The VLE will be the first production model to be underpinned by Mercedes-Benz’s new modular scalable van architecture.
According to Mercedes, the upcoming VLE combines two traditionally distinct vehicle categories. On one hand, it offers the ride quality and handling expected from a limousine. On the other, it provides the interior flexibility and passenger capacity typically associated with a multi-purpose vehicle. Speaking of which, Mercedes has confirmed that the VLE can host up to eight occupants.
Although Mercedes has not disclosed the VLE’s battery size, range, or charging capacity, the company previously revealed that during one of the tests, the vehicle completed a long-distance journey of nearly 1,100 kilometres from Stuttgart to Rome with just two brief charging stops of 15 minutes each. This suggests a single-charge range of around 600 km on highways.

The company has kept the design of the upcoming VLE tightly under wraps. Although the shape and silhouette might feel familiar to the fossil-fueled V-Class, which was launched in India earlier this month. However, the design of the VLE will have its unique touches. For example, the teaser released by Mercedes shows an octagonal illuminated front grille flanked by the LED headlamps. The headlamps house the signature LED star motifs while a thin LED stripe runs across the width of the face.
