MG Motor India has launched the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition, at a starting price of Rs. 14.48 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Available only with the mid-level Smart trim of the 1.5-litre version, the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition receives cosmetic updates to its exterior and interior along with a new exterior paint scheme, similar to the MG Gloster Blackstorm Edition. To give perspective, the standard MG Astor Smart trim in the 1.5-litre guise is priced at Rs. 14.21 lakh and Rs. 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), for the manual and CVT versions respectively. This is a Rs. 27,000 premium over the versions the Blackstorm Edition is based on.
MG Astor Blackstorm Edition Prices:
Variant | Prices (ex-showroom, India) |

The MG Astor Blackstorm boasts sporty elements and red accents on its bodywork, highlighted by black and Ash colours. The dark theme is further accentuated by elements such as the roof rail, smoked black taillight, window surround, fender, and fog garnish, collectively contributing to the commanding presence of MG's compact SUV.
Inside the MG Astor Blackstorm, the black-themed interior is complemented by red accents adorning the steering wheel, headlamps, callipers, and front and rear bumpers. The dark-themed leatherette seat upholstery, adorned with red stitching, adds a sporty and stylish touch to the overall interior.
The MG Astor Blackstorm offers a comprehensive suite of safety features, including the Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Some of the safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Automatic Parking Assist, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Door Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), and a Driver Fatigue Reminder System.
Mechanically, the MG Astor Blackstorm Edition remains unchanged. It retains the 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops 108 bhp @6000 rpm and 144 Nm @4400 rpm, coupled to a 5-speed manual and an 8-speed CVT unit.
With the advent of the festive season, MG Motor hopes that the new MG Astor Blackstorm Edition will help improve and increase its sales in the hotly contested compact SUV segment as it rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Honda Elevate, and the upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross.
