MG Motor India has introduced the Comet Blackstorm Edition, priced at ₹7.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India). For comparison, the regular Comet Exclusive variant with BaaS is priced at ₹7.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) with the same battery rental model. This special edition is based on the top-spec Exclusive variant and features a blacked-out design with red accents.
The ₹7.80 lakh price tag applies to the Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, in which customers pay ₹2.50 per km for battery rental. However, MG has not yet revealed the pricing for the Blackstorm Edition with battery ownership. Bookings for the new variant are open with a token amount of ₹11,000.
The Comet Blackstorm Edition comes with black exterior paint and several cosmetic enhancements. It features red accents on the front bumper and around the fog lamps, along with darkened badging for 'Comet EV' and 'Internet Inside' at the rear.
An accessory package also includes Blackstorm’s badging on the fender, Morris Garage’s lettering in red on the hood, blacked-out wheel covers with red highlights, and side decals for added styling.
The blacked-out theme extends to the interior, where MG has equipped the Comet Blackstorm with black leatherette upholstery featuring ‘Blackstorm’ embroidered in red on the headrests. Additionally, MG has upgraded the sound system from a 2-speaker to a 4-speaker setup, enhancing the in-car audio experience.
Mechanically, the Comet Blackstorm Edition remains unchanged from the standard model. It continues to be powered by a 17.3 kWh battery, paired with a 41 bhp electric motor producing 110 Nm of torque. The car offers an MIDC-certified range of 230 km on a single charge.
The Blackstorm Edition retains all key features of the standard Exclusive variant, including dual 10.25-inch screens (digital instrument cluster + touchscreen infotainment), wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car features, LED headlamps and taillamps, a rear parking camera, keyless lock/unlock, and dual airbags for safety.
