Microsoft has unveiled new Surface devices powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chips.
Microsoft has unveiled new Surface devices powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, promising faster performance, longer battery life, and next-level artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. On Wednesday, the company introduced the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11, both powered by Snapdragon processors and an upgraded Copilot+ platform designed to accelerate on-device AI tasks. Microsoft claims the new laptops compete with Apple's Macs on battery life while taking advantage of AI chops.
The Surface Laptop 7 is available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes starting at $999 and $1,199, respectively. It features a Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite Gen 8 processor, depending on configuration options. Microsoft claims an 80% performance boost over the previous generation and up to 22 hours of local video playback on a charge.
The Surface Pro 11 also gets the Snapdragon X Plus or X Elite Gen 8 processor. Microsoft touts a 90% speed increase compared to the Surface Pro 11, support for up to three external 4K displays and an all-day battery life.
The Surface Laptop and Surface Pro showcase Microsoft's new Copilot+ platform, which utilizes an onboard neural processing unit to accelerate AI tasks like live video translation of multiple languages simultaneously. The company said only Snapdragon-powered Surface PCs can deliver these advanced on-device AI experiences.
Pre-orders for the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 begin today. The Laptops will ship on June 18th. Pricing starts at $999 (≈Rs 83,244) for the 13.8-inch Laptop and $1,199 (≈Rs 99,910) for the 15-inch model.
