The company has signed separate agreements with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the replacement of ageing diesel commercial vehicles with electric alternatives.
Montra Electric on Tuesday signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to participate in a structured commercial vehicle fleet modernisation programme across the Delhi-National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR).
The agreements were signed separately by the company's medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) business and its small commercial vehicle division. The initiative forms part of the central government's infrastructure support programme implemented under the National Capital Region Planning Board policy.
The programme is aimed at encouraging transport operators to replace older, high-emission diesel trucks and buses operating in the Delhi-NCR region with cleaner alternatives.
Through the agreements, Montra Electric intends to offer zero-emission commercial vehicles to logistics operators and corporate fleet owners looking to transition from conventional internal combustion engine vehicles.
The broader policy is intended to improve air quality in the National Capital Region by promoting the replacement of ageing commercial vehicles through a structured incentive framework.
The initiative is focused on reducing emissions from freight and commercial transport by encouraging the adoption of cleaner vehicle technologies across regional logistics networks.
