The updates intend to bring a fresh appeal to the Bajaj Chetak including a new and more affordable variant, as it aims to snatch the throne from the TVS iQube in the electric scooter segment.
Bajaj Auto will be launching a new version of the Chetak electric scooter on January 14, 2026, the company has confirmed. The e-scooter is expected to get a refresh with subtle design differences, a new taillight, and changes to the battery and range, in a bid to make the new version more affordable. The Chetak has been one of the top-selling EVs last year with around 2.70 lakh units sold in 2025, capturing a 21 per cent market share in the electric two-wheeler segment.
The updates intend to bring a fresh appeal to the Bajaj Chetak as it aims to snatch the throne from the TVS iQube. The image shared by the company reveals the new horizontally stacked LED taillight, replacing the split taillights seen on the current model. The retro styling will be retained albeit with some subtle changes and tighter bodywork. The upcoming offering is expected to be a more affordable model that will draw power from a hub motor, while opting for a simpler flat seat, and an LCD instrument console instead of a TFT unit on the more expensive models. The more affordable Bajaj Chetak is also expected to get a conventional key slot, a twin-sided swingarm and an open glove compartment, all intended to keep costs low.

Details on the powertrain and battery options remain under wraps for now. The current Chetak gets two battery options, a 3 kWh and a 3.5 kWh unit, which have been branded as 3001 and the 35 Series - 3501, 3502, and 3503. A smaller battery pack option cannot be ruled out in the interest of savings. Previous spy shots have also hinted at a simpler suspension setup on the e-scooter.
The new Bajaj Chetak variant is likely going to be an entry-level option, which will take on newer launches the TVS Orbiter and Vida VX2 in this space. Expect prices to be around ₹90,000. The current Chetak range starts from ₹99,500 for the 3001, and goes up to ₹1.22 lakh for the top-spec 3501. All prices are ex-showroom.
