The new-gen Kia Seltos continues to be offered with three 1.5-litre engine options: a naturally aspirated petrol, a diesel, and a turbocharged petrol.
It’s been nearly four months since the second generation Kia Seltos made its debut in India. However, the company is yet to reveal its official ARAI fuel-efficiency figures for any of its powertrain options. Now, the ARAI mileage figures of every powertrain option offered in the new Kia Seltos have been leaked on the internet.
According to an X (formerly) post by Vahan Warta, the new Seltos offers a mileage of up to 19.4 kmpl with the diesel manual combination continuing to be the best option for those prioritizing fuel efficiency. Here’s a look at all engine and gearbox combinations the new-gen Seltos offers along with their corresponding mileage figures.
Mileage figures for the new Seltos appear to be slightly lower than its predecessor. This is due to the second-gen model being heavier than the first-gen Seltos. Diesel-powered variants — both manual and automatic — continue to offer the best fuel economy in the Seltos lineup. Seltos is one of the few SUVs that continues to offer diesel engine option in India.
Bulk of Kia Seltos sales come from naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine variants and this engine gets two gearbox options – MT and iVT (CVT). Both gearbox options with this 1.5-litre NA Petrol engine promise the same fuel efficiency figure of 16.5 kmpl. The third engine option with new Kia Seltos is a 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit, which is offered with two automatic, iMT and a DCT, gearbox options.

Interestingly, the DCT automatic version of the Seltos claims to offer a better fuel economy than the clutchless iMT gearbox. The former claims a mileage of 17.5 kmpl whereas the latter offers the lowest fuel efficiency in the Seltos lineup at 15.6 kmpl. This suggests that type of transmission plays a very crucial role in determining fuel efficiency numbers. Another interesting takeaway from this leak is that the fuel efficiency of petrol IVT/CVT is matching its petrol manual counterparts.
