The current-gen Nissan X-Trail is available for sale in India as a fully-imported CBU with a price tag of ₹48.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Nissan has pulled off the covers from the fourth-generation X-Trail at its global Vision event in Japan. Also known as the Rogue in the U.S. and Canada, the X-Trail has undergone some  serious changes over the current model. The X-Trail is one of the best-selling models for the Japanese carmaker having sold nearly 10 million units globally since its debut in 2000.

New-Gen Nissan X-Trail Hybrid: Design

The all-new Nissan X-Trail is likely to continue using the modular CMF-CD platform from the current model, but it features a comprehensive redesign that aligns with Nissan’s latest design language. Up front, it gets a bold fascia featuring a large blacked-out panel that integrates the headlamps, hexagonal DRL elements and a patterned grille. The side profile retains an upright stance with a generous glass area, while the rear is characterised by chunky LED tail-lamps and a sculpted bumper, lending it a more mature presence.

New-Gen Nissan X-Trail Hybrid: Powertrain Specs

Nissan has so far revealed only the exterior of the new X-Trail, with technical details of the mid-size SUV still under wraps. However, the e-POWER badging confirms the use of the brand’s full-hybrid powertrain. Unlike conventional parallel hybrids, this system uses the petrol engine solely as a generator to charge a battery, which in turn powers the electric motor driving the wheels.

While the X-Trail is already available with the e-POWER setup, the updated model is expected to adopt the more advanced version recently introduced in the smaller Qashqai. This upgraded system is likely to offer improvements in performance, refinement and overall efficiency. Under the bonnet, the new X-Trail continues with a series hybrid configuration, where the electric motors drive the wheels and the internal combustion engine functions only as a power generator. Nissan has confirmed a dual-motor setup, pointing to an all-wheel-drive layout.
