Apple's annual iPhone refresh is just weeks away, and details are emerging about the new colour options for the iPhone 15 lineup. For the past several years, Apple has offered a gold model of its premium iPhone Pro handsets. But that is set to change with the iPhone 15 Pro, reports suggest.
The higher-end iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be constructed from titanium, allowing Apple to market the phones as stronger and lighter. To play up the premium nature of titanium, Apple will reportedly introduce a new "titanium grey" colour option alongside the traditional black and silver. Gold will be noticeably absent.
There are also rumours of a deep crimson red and pale "ice blue" coming to the Pro models - the latter akin to the blue hero colour of the iPhone 13 Pro. The vibrant purple of the iPhone 14 Pro will apparently be discontinued.
The lower-cost iPhone 15 models will ship in a familiar range of colours: black, green, blue, yellow and pink. Apple is said to be dropping the (Product) Red option this year, ending a years-long partnership that donated proceeds to HIV/AIDS programmes.
Apple typically introduces a new colour for both its Pro and non-Pro iPhones each spring. While the iPhone 14 saw a new yellow option, the Pro range did not receive a 2022 colour refresh.
With a September 12 launch event widely tipped, Apple is soon expected to unveil the iPhone 15 lineup. The purported colour revisions deliver both aesthetic and functional changes, while keeping with Apple's lucrative history of annual iPhone updates.
