The sighting of this new bike comes barely after a year the current-gen Speed Triple 765 range was launched.
Triumph is testing a new bike which seems to be based on the popular 765 cc triple platform. The test mule has been spotted in Southern Europe and we reckon critical information will surface not until 2026. However, this could very well be the Daytona 765 taking form and we have good reasons why.
While the test mule seems to be retro-inspired, one might misconstrue it to be Triumph’s challenger to the likes of the Yamaha XSR900. However, the headlight used, which seems to have been borrowed from the Trident 660 naked, might just mainly be for temporary usage.
The main talking point here is the engine and the frame. The marque’s 765 cc triple engine seems to be housed inside a new aluminum twin-spar chassis. Interestingly, a set of lugs near the headstocks further indicates attachment points for a fairing, hinting greatly that the Daytona 765 could be the way forward. Alongside the revised main chassis, there’s also a new upswept subframe and the tail section is quite compact and small.
The final major giveaway that this could lead to be the Daytona 765 is the new chunky swingarm. Instead of the banana-style gullwing swingarm as seen on the Speed Triple bikes, this new swingarm looks like the one we see on Moto2 bikes, which are also powered by Triumph’s inline-3 engine. Triumph has been collecting critical data since 2019 when it entered the prototype racing sport. Hence, now would be a perfect time to work on the supersport for the road and make it slightly more friendly for an overall riding feel.
Triumph is gearing up to launch the new Tiger 900 and the Daytona 660 in India. The new triples have a lot going for them, with the former updated ADV shown to the Indian masses at India Bike Week 2023.
