The new TVS Orbiter V1 comes with a smaller 1.8 kWh battery pack, and the two-wheeler maker now lowered the price under BaaS, with flexible subscription packages starting at ₹862 per month.
TVS Motor Company has launched the new Orbiter V1 variant, bringing a more accessible version of the electric scooter to the market. The new TVS Orbiter V1 also comes with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, bringing the starting price down to ₹49,999. Meanwhile, the Orbiter V1 without BaaS will retail at ₹84,500 (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi), inclusive of the PM E-Drive Scheme. TVS is offering flexible subscription packages with the Orbiter V1 starting at ₹862 per month. The BaaS payment plans include extended warranty of up to 5 years/70,000 km. It also ensures unlimited monthly usage throughout the BaaS tenure of choice.
The new TVS Orbiter V1 comes with a 1.8 kWh battery pack, and will sit below the Orbiter V2 which is equipped with a larger 3.1 kWh battery pack. The latter retails for ₹92,519 (ex-showroom, Delhi) inclusive of PM E-Drive and state subsidies. The new V1 variant sets the sights on the Vida VX2 with its pricing, especially with the BaaS price. In comparison, the VX2 is priced from ₹44,900 onwards under BaaS.
Speaking on the announcement, Gaurav Gupta, President – India 2W Business, TVS Motor Company said, “TVS Motor has built a strong and well-defined EV portfolio, and the launch of TVS Orbiter V1 further strengthens this lineup by introducing the most accessible entry point into our electric scooter range. Alongside this, the introduction of BaaS represents an important shift in customers’ approach to EV ownership. By separating the vehicle price from the battery usage cost, we are enabling greater flexibility while providing customers a clear understanding of the overall cost of ownership.”
Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President – Head Commuter & EV Business and Head Corporate Brand & Media, TVS Motor Company, said, “We remain committed to consolidating our leadership in the EV space and advancing India’s electric mobility journey with a strong foundation of trust and innovation. The TVS Orbiter V2, which was launched last year, has been very well received by customers, and their feedback has reinforced the opportunity to further expand the lineup. The introduction of TVS Orbiter V1 reflects these insights, bringing a more accessible option for everyday urban commuting. Together with flexible ownership models like BaaS, we believe the TVS EV portfolio will continue to drive wider acceptance and accelerate EV adoption across India."
The new TVS Orbiter V1 promises a claimed range of 86 km (IDC) on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in about 2 hours and 20 minutes. TVS says the V1 is designed primarily for commuting, and is extremely practical with its long and flat seat measuring 845 mm. It also gets a 290 mm floorboard, 34 litres of under-seat storage, and more. The V1 is available only in two colours - Martian Copper and Stellar Silver.
On the feature front, the TVS Orbiter V1 carries an LED headlamp, an LCD digital instrument console. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, which enables a connectivity suite that brings features such as turn-by-navigation, battery status monitoring, and call and SMS alerts. The Orbiter V1 also comes with crash and fall alerts, geofencing, hill-hold assist, cruise control, parking assist and gets over-the-air (OTA) updates.
