Hyundai Motor India is preparing to launch the next-generation Venue, its subcompact SUV that has been a flagship model in the brand's India portfolio since its debut in May 2019. Although Hyundai itself has yet to announce the launch, various dealer sources have confirmed to Acko Drive that the launch is scheduled for October 24, coinciding perfectly with the festive season demand booster.
Having said that, the upcoming Venue is said to be the most comprehensive update the nameplate has seen so far. Fresh spy images of the heavily camouflaged test mule hint at notable exterior revisions, suggesting Hyundai’s intent to keep the model visually competitive in a segment teeming with rivals. Over the past five years, the Venue has consistently ranked among Hyundai’s best-sellers, and with this update, the Korean automaker appears poised to reinforce its position in the subcompact SUV hierarchy.

The latest spy images show the Venue draped in multiple layers of camouflage, but certain elements still stand out. New black-finish alloy wheels, revised LED rear lamps, a restyled multi-slat front grille, and an ADAS sensor mounted on the bumper imply there's some major upgrading going on. The Venue currently gets Level 1 ADAS, but Hyundai will presumably step that up to Level 2 with the generation shift. The Venue N Line is also on the cards, but that's another tale. It also boasts black roof rails and what looks to be a restyled tailgate. Hyundai will reportedly accompany these exterior updates with redeveloped front and rear bumpers, more streamlined lighting components, and a more aggressive stance.
On the inside, the Venue will gain from a reworked dashboard design, and the addition of improved infotainment and connectivity options. Although Hyundai is carrying over the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol powertrain options, adding more sophisticated safety and technology features will be the driving factor in ensuring the Venue remains competitive.
Since its launch, the Hyundai Venue has been a perennial best-seller in the sub-four-metre SUV segment. In its initial year, it sold around 9,000–10,000 units each month, dislodging the Maruti Suzuki Brezza briefly to become the best-seller in the segment.
Its sales continued strongly even in pandemic-affected 2020, as Hyundai was able to respond rapidly to shifting consumer demands and launch feature-loaded variants. Till date, Hyundai has sold more than 6.68 lakh units of the car, while the Venue's best 12-month performance was in FY2024 with 128,897 units.
The Venue had its first major makeover in mid-2022, which introduced more aggressive styling, more integrated tech, and better kit. The update saw sales rise again, pushing monthly numbers back into the 8,000–10,000 bracket. The 2024 update included tech tweaks and fresh trim levels.
The Venue operates in one of India's most competitive segments, where product cycles are short and features often define purchase decisions. Its rivals include the Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Nissan Magnite, among others that have a competitive pricing and aggressive feature lists.
Despite this, the Venue’s balanced value proposition, premium feel, strong service network, along with a wide powertrain choices, has helped it retain a strong foothold. It has consistently ranked among the top three in the segment, with Brezza and Nexon
Within Hyundai’s broader portfolio, the Venue plays an important dual role: it not only serves as the real entry point into Hyundai’s SUV family after the Exter but also as a high-volume sales driver. Alongside the Creta, the Venue does the heavy lifting in Hyundai’s SUV strategy, contributing significantly to overall sales and brand visibility. In 2024, SUVs made up more than 55 per cent of Hyundai’s total India volumes, with the Venue recording for a substantial share.
With the brand targeting 26 fresh products in India by 2030, the new Venue will likely act as a template for Hyundai’s next-gen design and tech rollout.
