Latest spy shots suggest the next-gen Triumph Speed Twin 1200 is still under development, with its debut expected sometime next year.
Triumph is working on the next generation Speed Twin 1200 that has been spotted internationally on a few occasions. A recent set of spy images of the flagship roadster has gone viral on social media that reveal a few very crucial changes over the current model. Images courtesy MotoBob have indicated fundamental updates on the upcoming Speed Twin 1200 over the current model.
For starters, the upcoming Triumph Speed Twin 1200 will get a completely new cradleless frame which is very unique for any neo-retro motorcycle. The idea behind this is to reduce weight that not only helps improve fuel efficiency but also enhances performance. The other big hardware change is the absence of traditional twin shock absorbers at the rear. Instead, the test unit is seen equipped with a mono-shock.

Besides the evident changes in hardware, the design of the upcoming Speed Twin 1200 looks less retro and more modern. While still evolving, the design language appears more sharply defined, featuring crisper lines and reduced curvature. Yet it continues with signature visual highlights such a round headlamp and a twin exhaust muffler. The fuel tank looks more chiselled while the floating rear fender gives it an impression of naked streetfighter. One noticeable change is the split-seat setup that might be the result of a new rear sub-frame.

It is too early to predict if Triumph is planning to change the powertrain of Speed Twin 1200. We expect Triumph to carry forward the same engine as the current model although some minor reformations could be made to comply with stricter future emission norms. The current Speed Twin 1200 is powered by a 1200 cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 103.5 bhp at 7,750rpm and a peak torque of 112 Nm at 4,250rpm. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
On the features front, the present iteration of the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 is equipped with cornering ABS, multiple ride modes, and traction control. It also comes with an LCD instrument console paired with a multifunction TFT display that supports navigation. Additionally, a USB-C charging port is provided for added convenience.
