The NIO ET7 reached Xiamen having used 97 per cent of its battery life during the 1,044 km trip.
Shanghai-based EV maker, NIO has completed 1044 km on a single charge in its NIO ET7 with the help of a new 150 kWh semi-solid state battery. NIO Founder, Chairman and CEO William Li was part of this drive which started on December 17 at 6:32 am from the battery swap station (PSS) in Shanghai. Li’s first co-pilot was Shen Fei, Director of Nio Power. The 14-hour journey was completed in Xiamen, a city on the southeast coast of China.
William Li, Founder, Chairman and CEO of NIO said, “The completion of this range test marks the range of smart EVs going beyond 1,000 km, which will further promote the transformation of the automotive industry from the consumption of gasoline to electricity.”
After a short stopover and driver swap, the NIO ET7 reached Xiamen having used 97 per cent of its battery life during the 1,044 km trip, despite the particularly cold temperatures – a factor usually associated with reduced electric vehicle battery performance and range. The company says the new battery is compatible with its entire range of EVs and is currently available for users of its battery as a service subscription model which allows drivers to scale battery capacity during each stop to suit changing requirements.

The company claims the new 150 kWh battery pack is the world's first pouch format cell CTP Pack with no thermal propagation design, and a cell energy density of up to 360 Wh per kg, marking the highest capacity and energy density for mass-produced production car battery packs in China.
The new 150kWh battery is compatible with all NIO electric vehicles through NIO Power's chargeable, upgradable and swappable power service system, and NIO users will be provided with flexible options for upgrading the batteries when needed.
