Nissan Sales Hike 147% In August, Tekton Exports Begin From India

Nissan Motor India announced its total wholesales for August 2026. The company’s cumulative sales stood at 9,350 units, comprising 3,426 units in the domestic market and 5,924 units in the export market, reporting a whopping 147 per cent hike in sales year-on-year. Furthermore, Nissan announced that it has commenced exports of the newly launched Tekton compact SUV from India, with the first batch shipped to customers in South Africa, Nepal and Bhutan, among other regions.

Speaking about the sales performance, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “The response to the all-new Nissan Tekton has been encouraging and has contributed to a strong domestic wholesale performance in August. At the same time, our export business continues to demonstrate the global competitiveness of vehicles manufactured in India and underlines the strategic importance of our Indian operations within Nissan's global network. As we expand Tekton’s presence across domestic and international markets, we remain focused on delivering innovative products, a differentiated customer experience and sustainable growth for the business.”

Nissan says the Tekton is built to the same standard for global markets as for India, as part of its “One Car. One World.” strategy. The company said the Tekton has received a strong response in the country, witnessing a strong start for the model. The compact SUV is an extremely important offering for the automaker and its most advanced yet. Nissan will be following up the Tekton with a seven-seater SUV, set to arrive sometime next year.
