The network push links to a wider product plan. Over the next year, Nissan aims to offer a total of four cars in India, all of which will be made in the country.
Nissan Motor India plans to grow its dealership network from around 160 outlets to more than 250 by the end of FY 2026-27. The move comes after a phase in which many Nissan dealers ran showrooms with only one mass-market model - the Magnite.
In an exclusive interview with AckoDrive, Nissan Motor India managing director Saurabh Vatsa said the focus is now on both reach and product range. “My network is currently at 160 outlets, and at the end of the financial year 2026-27, we will be close to 250 plus.” The company is targeting more outlets in markets where it does not yet have presence, along with higher density in larger cities.

Vatsa said existing Nissan dealers will play a central role in this expansion. “Interestingly, majority of my expansion – almost 60% - is happening with my existing dealers. And we have a whole host of new partners who are waiting to come in, which is exciting, because they are now understanding the value in what we’ve said, because it’s all coming alive.” Nissan has also been adding touchpoints through sales outlets and service centres across states.
The network push links to a wider product plan. Over the next year, Nissan aims to offer a total of four cars in India, all of which will be made in the country. These models will sit alongside the Magnite, which has been the main volume driver for the brand in India since its launch. Nissan has also announced plans for more locally produced models by 2027 as part of a multi-product strategy for this market.

For dealers, the change follows a difficult period. After the Kicks SUV went off sale in 2023 due to new emission rules, Nissan’s line-up in India for walk-in buyers was largely limited to the Magnite. Yes, there was the X-Trail as well in 2024, but that came to India in limited numbers. While the Magnite did well in terms of sales, a one-product showroom saw low showroom activity, with some dealer partners exiting the brand or shifting focus while rumours about Nissan’s future in India circulated on social media.
Nissan has since repeated that it has no plan to exit India and has outlined targets for domestic and export sales along with the dealer expansion. The combination of more outlets and a wider, made-in-India car portfolio will test how far the brand can rebuild scale in this market after the one-model phase.
