The new Oben Rorr Evo comes with a new design, improved quality and range, as well as a longer feature list, to take on 125 cc motorcycles.

Bengaluru-based start-up Oben Electric on Thursday launched the Rorr Evo electric motorcycle. The new Oben Rorr Evo is the brand’s new flagship offering, and is available at a launch price of ₹99,999 (ex-showroom). The launch price will be applicable for the first 10,000 customers, post which the price will increase to ₹1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are now open for ₹777, while deliveries are set to commence from June this year.

The Rorr Evo has been launched in four colour options: Pulse Red, Neutron Blue, Magnetic Black, and Photon White.

“Electric motorcycling in India is entering a new phase, where riders are no longer evaluating electric vehicles as alternatives, but as motorcycles in their own right. Rorr EVO is built on that belief. It is a no-compromise product designed to prove that electric can match and exceed the full spectrum of real-world riding, not selectively, but completely. Rorr EVO is built to make that shift tangible on the road," Madhumita Agrawal, Founder & CEO, Oben Electric, said in a statement.

The Oben Rorr Evo is built on the new and improved ARX platform. It gets a completely new design language with a single projector headlamp and a full-width LED DRL. The styling is reminiscent of the Bajaj Pulsar N160. The model comes with 3D badging on the fenders. The seat height measures 780 mm, while the seat length is 680 mm.

The ground clearance is a decent 200 mm, while the company claims a water wading capacity of 230 mm. Powering the Oben Rorr Evo is a PMS motor tuned for 9 kW (12 bhp) and 250 Nm of torque (at the wheel). The company claims 0-40 kmph in 3 seconds with a top speed of 110 kmph. Power goes to the rear wheel via a chain drive now, as opposed to a belt-drive on the older model.

The motor draws power from the same 3.4 kWh LFP battery that has been optimised for enhanced range. Oben says the motor has been improved in efficiency, thereby increasing the range by 25 per cent. Oben claims 180 km (IDC) range on the Rorr Evo, with a real-world range of 150 km (claimed) on full charge. The company says the new battery pack is 2x more resistant to heat, and has a longer shelf life compared to a lithium-ion battery pack.

Other notable bits include telescopic forks at the front, a monoshock at the rear for the suspension setup. Braking comes from disc brakes at the front and rear. Oben is also offering 6 litres of under-seat storage on the Rorr Evo, as well as 4 litres of small storage space on the tank pod. The e-bike comes with a digital console with AI enabled, which helps optimise range from the motor and battery.

The Oben Rorr Evo will be available with an 8-year warranty, and will take on 125 cc motorcycles of similar scale.

It will also compete with the Revolt RV400 in the e-motorcycle segment, which has limited options. Oben currently has 150 showrooms across 18 states, and it’s expanding presence in newer parts of the country.
