Ola Electric founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has announced an upgrade programme for owners of its Gen 1 and Gen 2 scooters and bikes who are interested in newer Gen 3 models. Using his personal social media platform, Aggarwal stated that its existing customers in Bengaluru would be the first to be able to take advantage of this scheme, starting this weekend. However, specific pricing details, as well as information about when, where and how the upgrade scheme will be offered, have not yet been announced.
The upgrade programme covers Ola Electric’s Gen 3 models such as the S1 Pro, S1 Pro+ and S1X Gen 3 electric scooters, and the Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster X+ electric motorcycles. Aggarwal confirmed that variants using Ola’s in-house 4680 “Bharat cell” batteries are also covered under the upgrade scheme.
Current prices for the Gen 3 models range from ₹82,999 (ex-showroom, after subsidy, including charger and Move OS+ lifetime subscription) for the S1 X 2kWh variant, going up to ₹1,89,999 for the Roadster X+ 9.1kWh variant (ex-showroom, including charger and Move OS+ lifetime subscription). Certain Ola Electric models have qualified for the Government of India’s PM E-Drive production-linked incentive scheme, giving buyers a subsidy on the end-purchase price.
Ola Electric, the former electric scooter market leader, has seen its market share decline severely from 36.7 percent in 2024 to 16.1 percent at the end of 2025. Annual sales amounted to only 1,96,767 units in calendar year 2025 even as competitors TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy have improved their positions.
In the company’s most recent earnings call last week, Ola Electric CFO Deepak Rastogi admitted that customer trust has suffered due to “execution gaps” related to customer service complaints, primarily poor turnaround time. Aggarwal also posted a shareholders’ letter on his social media on February 13, stating “Q3 FY26 marks a structural reset for Ola Electric” and calling service execution the company’s biggest challenge. He further claimed that service backlogs are now down by “nearly 50 percent”, and “close to 80 percent” of service requests are completed within a day.
Ola Electric is reducing operating costs across its business, and also announced this week that it would further reduce its offline retail footprint to just 550 locations across India, down from approximately 4,000 stores at the company’s peak, as part of its “structural reset”.
