Ola Electric’s Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh secures PLI certification, marking a key milestone in electric bike expansion.
Ola Electric has announced that its Roadster X+ 11 kW 4.5 kWh has received certification for compliance under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. The certification has been awarded by the Global Automotive Research Centre under the PLI Scheme for Automobile and Auto Components (PLI-Auto Scheme).
With this development, the Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh becomes the first motorcycle in the company’s Roadster portfolio to achieve PLI certification, marking a significant milestone in Ola Electric’s expansion into the electric motorcycle segment.
The certification confirms that the model meets the required Domestic Value Addition (DVA) thresholds, making it eligible for incentives under the PLI-Auto Scheme for all qualifying units.
Commenting on the milestone, a spokesperson for Ola Electric said, “The PLI certification for our Roadster X+ 4.5 kWh validates our focus on deep localisation and our commitment to building a robust, indigenous EV ecosystem. With the Roadster range, we aim to make electric motorcycles more accessible while driving category growth through high-performance, technology-led products.”

The company stated that the certification reinforces its strategic focus on localisation, vertically integrated manufacturing, and the development of indigenous EV technologies, further strengthening its role in India’s advanced automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
In a related development, Ola Electric recently announced a price reduction for its 4680 Bharat Cell-powered Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh variant. The model is now priced at ₹1,29,999, down from ₹1,89,999, with availability limited to specific purchase windows. The price revision has been enabled by improved cost efficiencies driven by scale and vertical integration at the company’s Gigafactory.
