Ola Electric begins mass deliveries of S1 Pro+ with in-house 4680 battery cell, claiming 320 km range and full control over battery production.
Ola Electric has begun large-scale customer deliveries of its S1 Pro+ electric scooter equipped with the indigenously developed 4680 battery cell, called “Bharat Cell” by the company.
The 5.2 kWh variant is the first vehicle from the company to use this battery, which is manufactured entirely in-house. With this, Ola Electric claims to be the first Indian company to control the complete battery cell and pack production process under one roof.
The 4680 Bharat Cell is a cylindrical lithium-ion cell with a diameter of 46 mm and height of 80 mm. Compared to the smaller 2170 cells used earlier, the larger format is said to offer higher energy density, lower production cost per kWh, and simpler assembly.
The company states that the new cell provides greater range, improved acceleration, and better thermal management in its vehicles.
The S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) is powered by a 13 kW motor and claims a 0-40 km/h time of 2.1 seconds. It offers an IDC-certified range of 320 km in DIY mode. The scooter comes with four riding modes: Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco, along with dual-channel ABS, front and rear disc brakes, a two-tone seat, body-coloured mirrors, and an aluminium grab handle.
It is available in six colours: Passion Red, Porcelain White, Industrial Silver, Jet Black, Stellar Blue, and Midnight Blue.
Ola Electric currently sells multiple scooter and motorcycle models under the S1 and Roadster brands. The top-spec S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) is priced at ₹1,90,338, while other variants in the S1 portfolio range between ₹84,999 and ₹1,90,338 (ex-showroom). The Roadster motorcycle line-up starts at ₹99,999 and goes up to ₹1,29,999.
The shift to in-house 4680 cells is part of the company’s broader plan to reduce dependence on imported battery components and bring down costs in the long run.
