Ola showcased four motorcycle concepts at the Ola Customer Day event.
Ola Electric made a huge announcement today as it unveiled its upcoming range of motorcycles. Yes, after dominating the electric scooter segment with the S1 Pro, the Indian startup now has plans to.dominate the EV motorcycle space. While electric scooter sales have picked up that hasn't been the case with electric bikes. Currently the Revolt RV 400 is the market leader and there are other players such as Tork Motors and Ultraviolette. Coming back to the motorcycles showcased, Bhavish Agarwal unveiled three motorcycles.
Ola Cruiser
The first Ola bike showcased was the cruiser. The Ola cruiser looks like a proper modern and sporty cruiser. We could spot a few design cues that are similar to the Suzuki Intruder M1800 R. The fork cover is huge and it sports a large tank and the 'battery/motor bay' is completely covered which is common with sportbikes. The Ola cruiser concept showcased is a single-seater but we're sure the production bike will be a twin-seat offering. Rear suspension is a monoshock unit and there's chain drive.
Ola Adventure
While electric motorcycles are itself uncommon, among them the most niche is an electric Adventure bike. The second bike unveiled was the Ola Adventure. Yes, a proper electric Adventure bike and not a small off-road machine.
There are no details such as peak power and torque output, but given the instantaneous torque of an electric motor, the Ola Adventure would be fun off-road, theoretically. We couldn't see much details during the live session, but we could spot USD fork, off-road tyres and spoke wheels. The front section styling is very modern with vertically stacked LED DRLs.
Ola Roadster
The third bike, which was a working prototype and ridden on the stage by the design head of Ola Electric, Ramripa Ananthan was the Ola Roadster. While Ola calls it a roadster, the styling looks more like that of a street bike. The Ola Roadster looks like a bike out of sci-fi flick.
It gets sharp body panels and looks like a proper concept bike from the early 2000s era. One common theme among all the three bikes is that the battery pack and motors are covered, and all had chain drive. The Ola Roadster sported USD fork and a large single disc brake rotor at the front and you could see a cast swingarm and monoshock suspension. Unlike the Ola Cruiser, the Ola Roadster had a rear seat.
Ola Diamond Head
The final product showcased, which Bhavish claims will bring about a revolution for electric motorcycles globally was the Diamond Head. If the Ola Roadster looked modern, the Ola Diamond Head looks like a bike from the future. It looks sleek and the overall styling is shocking to say the very least. The Diamond Head is positioned as an electric sportbike. The front suspension is a horizontal unit that looks like a push rod and at the rear there's a monoshock. It had dynamic LED turn lights, mode button on the right hand side switchgear and a TFT screen.
So these were the Ola motorcycle concepts showcased, there is no information about specs or features as it was more of an unveiling. Ola didn’t even mention what is the expected timeline for its electric bikes or any further details. In our opinion the Ola bikes are still under development and the first production Ola motorcycle might make an appearance in 2025.
