OnePlus provided a sneak preview of the phone in collaboration with Unbox Therapy.
OnePlus, in preparation for the launch of their highly anticipated foldable smartphone, is open to embracing a gapless design. The company recently provided a sneak preview of the phone in collaboration with Unbox Therapy. During an interview with OnePlus co-founder and CEO, as well as Oppo Chief Product Officer Pete Lau, they shed light on the philosophy behind the phone's design. Lau revealed that the best features from both OnePlus and Oppo were merged to create a gapless design when the phone is folded.
A brand new design language, first seen on the Oppo Find N2, was introduced to this phone. Lewis Hilsenteger demonstrated how the device can even hold a piece of paper securely between its two halves. Lau also mentioned that OnePlus has filed 35 patents for this design, with a hinge that is 37% smaller than that of the Oppo Find N2. This reduction in size means fewer parts, resulting in fewer points of failure, a lighter and more compact structure, and a more durable hinge. Additionally, this design includes the legendary alert slider synonymous with OnePlus phones.
Lau further revealed that OnePlus collaborated with Google to optimise apps for the inner foldable screen. Notably, the back of the phone, which was revealed by Anushka Sharma, showcases a triple camera array with impressive camera systems: a 50-megapixel, 48-megapixel, and 32-megapixel, all tuned by Hasselblad.
Rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, offering 16GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage, the OnePlus foldable smartphone is set to make waves in the market.
