A hefty price tag of $1,699 (₹1,29,295 approx.) is anticipated for the OnePlus "Open" foldable.
In recent weeks, OnePlus has been drumming up anticipation for its inaugural foldable smartphone, provisionally named the "Open". A promotional video previously shed light on aspects of the device without giving away its complete design. Now, leaked renders have surfaced, providing a comprehensive view of both the cover screen and the rear camera arrangement in its unfolded state.
It's believed the device will be available in two distinct finishes. One features faux leather reminiscent of the solar red edition for the OnePlus 11R, albeit in black, while the other boasts a glass back in a striking green hue.
Speculation suggests the phone will incorporate the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Interestingly, this could be the last premier device powered by this chipset. This November, Qualcomm is set to host its summit in Hawaii, where the third iteration of this chipset is poised to be unveiled.
As for the price point, a hefty $1,699 (₹1,29,295 approx.) is anticipated, positioning the "Open" in direct competition with contenders like the Pixel Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
This upcoming handset is rumoured to pack 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and start at a generous 256GB of storage. The primary display reportedly measures 7.8 inches, procured from Samsung, despite initial talks of BOE being the supplier. The external screen is expected to be 6.3 inches. On the photographic front, a trio of cameras adorns the back, flaunting the Hasselblad branding. This setup mirrors the OnePlus 11, boasting dual 48-megapixel cameras alongside a 64-megapixel sensor.
The device's global launch is anticipated on 19th October. Markets in the US and Europe are set to welcome this novel offering, although Germany might miss out due to a patent dispute involving Oppo.
Speaking of which, Oppo is reportedly gearing up to introduce the Find N3 in China, which bears a resemblance to OnePlus's offering but could edge ahead with superior camera capabilities, including a 5x telephoto zoom.
