ChatGPT maker OpenAI on Friday announced Operator, its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital assistant, is now available to ChatGPT Pro subscribers in nine more countries, including major markets like Australia, India, Japan, and the UK.
The global rollout is also happening in Brazil, Canada, Singapore, and South Korea, marking OpenAI's push to capture the growing market for AI automation tools.
"Operator is now rolling out to Pro users in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and most places ChatGPT is available.
"Still working on making Operator available in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein & Iceland—we’ll keep you updated!," OpenAI posted on X, formerly Twitter.
However, the service remains unavailable across much of Europe, including the EU member states, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland.
Operator, which debuted in the US this January, represents OpenAI's entry into the emerging field of AI agents -- sophisticated programmes designed to handle everyday tasks.
The service operates through a dedicated browser window, allowing users to maintain oversight and control while the AI assistant performs actions like making restaurant reservations, handling travel bookings, and managing online shopping.
Currently, access to Operator is limited to subscribers of ChatGPT's premium tier, which comes at a $200 monthly subscription fee.
While the service is currently web-exclusive, OpenAI has indicated plans to integrate it across all ChatGPT platforms.
