Peugeot Motorcycles Set For Ownership Change

Peugeot Motorcycles has had a tumultuous past decade with multiple ownership changes. This started in 2015 with 51 percent of the company’s stakes acquired by Mahindra. Eight years later, the French two-wheeler brand was bought by German investment agency Mutares. There is some new development regarding the ownership of Peugeot.

Mutares has announced that it has received an irrevocable offer from the current management team of Peugeot Motorcycles to acquire the company. The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, following consultations with the works councils and subject to customary closing conditions.

Since its acquisition by Mutares in 2023, the company has undergone a comprehensive operational and strategic transformation aimed at strengthening its market positioning, improving efficiency and laying the foundation for sustainable growth. During Mutares’ stint as the owner, Peugeot Motorcycles acquired DAB Motors as a step towards expanding its presence in the premium and electric motorcycle segment. Further, Peugeot  recently collaborated with French motorcycle manufacturer Sherco, marked by the launch of the new product named XP6.

Speaking on the change of ownership, Johannes Laumann, CIO of Mutares, said “We are confident to now place Peugeot Motorcycles in the best possible hands for its next phase.
