Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated a new skill development centre by Mahindra Tractors in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, through a virtual ceremony, the company announced. The facility intends to empower young people in rural areas through industry-focused training programmes that will create employment opportunities in the region.
The tractor manufacturer has set up the training facility at the ITI college in Gadchiroli through a collaboration with the Department of Vocational Education & Training (DVET) and the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS). The partnership is designed to strengthen rural skills development and contribute to economic expansion in agricultural regions.
The new facility supports national priorities around skill development, aimed at leveraging India's demographic advantage. Young residents of Gadchiroli will receive practical, job-ready training while supporting the economic vitality of their local communities.
The Gadchiroli centre will provide comprehensive training in tractor technology and farm equipment through Mahindra's knowledge in the sector. Students will learn from experienced instructors using state-of-the-art technical equipment and gain practical experience in tractor-related operations.
Graduates will have access to employment pathways including positions in manufacturing facilities, dealership sales networks, and service centers.
