The new Panamera E-Hybrid variants get a 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine and an integrated electric motor.
Just months after unveiling the third-generation Panamera, Porsche has revealed the hybrid variants of the luxury sedan. The Panamera 4 e-Hybrid and Panamera 4S e-Hybrid have been introduced as there is strong interest in efficient and dynamic hybrids in many markets, according to Porsche.
The e-Hybrid models get a revamped version of Porsche’s 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbocharged petrol engine mated to an integrated electric motor and a dual-clutch gearbox. In the 4 e-Hybrid variant, the powertrain produces 464 bhp (combined) and 650 Nm maximum torque. The engine in this variant produces 300 bhp and the motor churns out 188 bhp on their own. In the 4S e-Hybrid variant, the hybrid powertrain produces 536 bhp and 750 Nm maximum torque with the engine churning out 349 bhp. The 4 e-Hybrid has a top speed of 280 kmph and can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.1 seconds (claimed). On the other hand, the 4S e-Hybrid has a top speed of 290 kmph and the 0-100 kmph run is completed in 3.7 seconds.

Porsche says the e-Hybrid models have a better all-electric range, faster charging speeds, better throttle response and better driving performance. Both new e-Hybrid models get a 29.5 kWh battery pack and with the new 11 kW onboard AC charger, it can be charged in almost 2 hours and 40 minutes. The 4 e-Hybrid has an electric-only range of up to 93 km, while the 4S e-Hybrid has an electric-only range of up to 90 km.
The Panamera also get four hybrid-specific driving modes which Porsche claims improves the efficiency of the hybrid models. They start in electric E-Power mode and switch to Hybrid Auto mode once the battery reaches a certain state of charge. While in E-Hold mode, the battery’s state of charge is preserved, in E-Charge mode, the engine charges the battery up to 80 per cent when out of town and doing over 55 kmph.

All variants of the Panamera get the dual-chamber two-valve air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The hybrid models also get the Porsche Active Ride active suspension which allows the vehicle to be raised during ingress and egress.
The 4 e-Hybrid variant gets 19-inch alloy wheels, black brake callipers and matrix LED headlamps as standard. The HD matrix LED headlamps are available as an option on this variant. On the other hand, the 4S e-Hybrid variant gets 20-inch alloy wheels, a silver finish for the exhaust tips and red brake callipers as standard. As an option, it gets 21-inch alloy wheels and Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes (PCCB).

Currently, the Panamera gets three hybrid variants – 4 e-Hybrid, 4S e-Hybrid and Turbo e-Hybrid. Porsche says the Panamera will get a fourth hybrid variant as well, likely to be the Turbo S e-Hybrid with more than 671 bhp on offer. While there is no information on the e-Hybrid models coming to India, the standard Panamera is priced at ₹1.67 crore (ex-showroom, India).
