The new variant of the Panamera lapped the circuit in 7:23.17, setting a new record in the luxury car class.
Porsche and its love story with the iconic Nurburgring continues with its latest record. The German car brand has set a new lap record at the Nurburgring racetrack with an upcoming variant of the new Panamera. The sports sedan set a time of 7:24.17 in the luxury car class that includes internal combustion engines and hybrids.

The Panamera was piloted by Lars Kern, who set class records with the previous iterations of the Panamera in 2016 and 2020. In 2020, Kern set a record with a Panamera Turbo S by lapping the Nurburgring in 7:29.81. The 7:24.17 beat Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4Matic+’s record of 7:27.80 which was set in 2020.
The latest record was set by an upcoming variant of the Panamera that will get a V8 engine with electric assist and is likely to be called the Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid. Porsche also mentioned that the new powertrain isn’t the only reason for the improved lap time. The new Panamera gets Active Ride suspension that debuted with the third-generation Panamera earlier this year.

The new Panamera variant will get larger air intakes in the front bumper, a bigger front splitter, gurney flaps on the rear spoiler and four circular exhaust tips. It will also get 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. The record-setting Panamera was also equipped with the optional aero kit that it claims reduces lift on the front axle and increases downforce. Porsche claims that the lap record variant is nearly street-legal as it gets a racing seat and a roll cage to protect the driver.
Commenting on the record, Kern said, “On the Nordschleife, the transverse dynamic capabilities of a car are particularly important. The new Panamera has made significant gains in this area. The powertrain, the aerodynamics, the chassis, the new ultra-high-performance tyres from Michelin – many aspects have contributed to this best time.”
