Qualcomm has announced its latest Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for budget smartphones. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 takes up from the 4 Gen 1, announced last year, and brings in performance upgrades, faster 5G speeds and better photography and videography capabilities.
"With this generational advancement in the Snapdragon 4-series, consumers will have greater access to the most popular and relevant mobile features and capabilities. We optimized every aspect of the platform in order to maximize the experiences for users," said Matthew Lopatka, director of product management at Qualcomm Technologies.
It's built on 4nm architecture with improved efficiency.
The Kryo CPU offers peak speeds of up to 2.2GHz.
Up to 10% better CPU performance compared to 4 Gen 1.
Support for 120fps FHD+ display.
Supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ Technology (up to 50% in 15 minutes).
It's got Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System for blazing-fast 5G with peak download speeds of Up to 2.5 Gbps.
It also brings in support for EIS and faster autofocus.
Multi-Camera Temporal Filtering (MCTF) is built into the hardware for noise reduction in videos.
AI-based low-light technology for capturing images at night.
Some major original equipment manufacturer (OEM) brands, including Redmi and Vivo, have committed to adopting the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Consumers can expect commercial devices powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 to be announced in the second half of 2023.
