In a significant move, Jaguar Land Rover will start producing the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport at JLR-owned Tata Motors' Pune facility in India. This marks the first time any Range Rover products will be manufactured outside Solihull, UK. In India, the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover Defender account for 80 per cent of the company's total sales. Since JLR only assembles its vehicles in India, the upcoming Range Rover and even the Range Rover Sport will be assembled and not manufactured.

In the UK, the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover Velar are manufactured at the Solihull plant near Birmingham, while the Discovery Sport and Evoque are produced at the Halewood plant near Liverpool. By leveraging its existing facility in Pune, JLR aims to make these SUVs more affordable for the Indian market. Land Rover says deliveries for the locally-assembled Range Rover commenced from May 24, 2024, while Range Rover Sport deliveries will start from August 16, 2024.
The prices for the 2024 Range Rover diesel now start at ₹2.36 crore (ex-showroom, India), while the petrol version is available from ₹2.60 crore (ex-showroom, India). Similarly, both the petrol and diesel formats of the Range Rover Sport are priced at ₹1.40 crore (ex-showroom, India). The local assembly of the two models has resulted in the Range Rover becoming relatively less expensive by ₹56 lakh, while the Range Rover Sport is now more affordable by ₹30 lakh.
With this, Tata Motors-owned JLR is expecting a record year in India, with volumes to see a significant jump. In FY24, the company retailed 4436 units, an 81 per cent growth from FY23, and an increase in revenue by 92 per cent. JLR also locally assembles the Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Jaguar F-Pace from its Pune facility.
