Range Rover is on a spree with black editions, and the latest one to get it is the Range Rover SV Black Edition. It is the third theme for the Range Rover SV after the SV Serenity and SV Intrepid and is a fully blacked-out version. It’s highly likely that the SV Black will also come to India since the other two are already available.
The Range Rover SV Black Edition gets a Narvik Black colour, just like the other Black Editions introduced by Land Rover, i.e. the Defender Octa Black Edition and Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition. But it’s not a regular Black Edition as Range Rover has gone the extra mile and even coloured its iconic oval logo Black instead of Green. This was done with special permission from the head of design at JLR. All the elements and accents, such as the grille, badging, lettering, tailgate ornaments, alloy wheels, etc, have a gloss black finish.
Even the interior is fully decked out in Black leather upholstery. The seats have a unique rectangular stitching pattern on the upper side. Even the wooden veneer has a Black finish with the use of Black Birch. All other accents get a Moonlight Chrome finish which is like a darkened chrome.
The Range Rover SV Black Edition will be available with the option of either the standard wheelbase or the long wheelbase version. The 5-seat configuration is standard on both but the long wheelbase also gets the choice of a 4-seat configuration.
Another new option with the Range Rover SV is what the brand calls “Body-and-Soul-Seat”, or simply BASS, and Sensory Floor technology. These will now be available as standard across the Range Rover SV range. What they do is, provide haptic feedback through the floor and seats to improve the aural experience in the car, which Range Rover claims allows “occupants to physically feel the music”. These can also be used to soothe the passengers through six modes which range between ‘calm’ and ‘invigorating’. It’s available in both wheelbase configurations of the Range Rover SV.
The SV Black Edition is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 which churns out a healthy 606 bhp and 750 Nm. More interestingly, the entire Range Rover range will be getting the Pirelli P Zero tyres later this year, and these tyres have more than 70 per cent bio-based and recycled materials. These tyres will be available with the 22-inch alloy wheels.
Like the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition, the Range Rover SV Black Edition will also be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed between July 10 and 13, 2025. And like all special Range Rover models, the Range Rover SV Black Edition will also make its way to India eventually but the timeline for that has not been disclosed yet.
