The Redmi 12 series has officially launched in India. Xiaomi's budget Redmi number series, the Redmi 12, is offered in 4G and 5G flavours. With the new Redmi 12 phones, Xiaomi aims to regain supremacy in the sub-10k and sub-15k price segments in an attempt once again to climb the top spot of the Indian smartphone market. Here's everything you need to know about the Redmi 12 4G and Redmi 12 5G.
The Redmi 12 4G features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ resolution LCD with 90Hz refresh rate. The phone measures 8.2mm and weighs 198 grams. It is also IP53 certified, making it dust and splashproof.
The MediaTek Helio G88 processor powers the Redmi 12 4G and runs on Android 13-based MIUI 14. It also supports a microSD card for storage expansion using a hybrid SIM slot.
The Redmi 12 4G has triple cameras on the back that includes a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. Upfront, there is an 8MP selfie camera. The cameras can record in 1080p at 30fps.
The Redmi 12 4G supports dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, and a fingerprint reader on the side.
It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W charging.
The Redmi 12 4G is priced starting at ₹9,999 for the base variant, with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage & ₹11,499 for the 6GB+128GB storage option. It goes on sale from August 4 across Mi.com, Flipkart and offline retail stores.
The Redmi 12 5G features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ resolution display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is protected by Gorilla Glass. It measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 199 grams. The phone is also IP53 rated for dust and splash protection.
The Redmi 12 5G is the first phone in India to be powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor and is paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage options on offer. There is a hybrid SIM slot for further storage expansion.
The Redmi 12 5G has dual cameras, including a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. There is an 8MP selfie camera upfront.
In addition, the Redmi 12 5G has a 3.5mm audio jack with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3 and a fingerprint reader on the side.
The Redmi 12 5G has a 5,000mAh battery to boot and supports 18W charging speed.
The Redmi 12 5G is priced starting at ₹11,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, ₹13,499 for the 6GB+128GB storage and ₹15,499 for the 8GB+256GB storage. It goes on sale from August 4 across Mi.com, Amazon and retail stores.
